on August 10, 2010. The album includes the Billboard Hot 100 Top 10
single «Cooler Than Me,» as well as his second single, «Please Don’t
Go,»
Posner was born in Detroit, Michigan, as the son of a pharmacist and an
attorney.[1] His father is Jewish and his mother is Catholic.Posner
attended Wylie E. Groves High School and Duke University, and is a
member of Sigma Nu Fraternity (Gamma Chapter).
At the age of 16, while still in the 11th grade, Mike attended the
Recording Institute of Detroit (Eastpointe, MI). Taking classes on the
weekends (so as to not interfere with his high school studies), he
graduated the institute’s Associate Recording Engineer Program with a
4.0 GPA.
With Don Cannon and DJ Benzi, he eased his first mixtape, «A Matter
of Time,» from his dorm room at Duke University in March 2009.[3] In
July 2009, Posner signed a major label deal with J Records
(RCA/Sony).[4] He chose to return to Duke after signing his record
deal, and toured on the weekends while at the same time recording for
his debut album.[5][6][7] Posner’s second mixtape «One Foot Out The
Door,» hosted by Clinton Sparks, was eased on October 27, 2009.
His debut album titled 31 Minutes to Takeoff produced by Eric Barker
was eased August 10, 2010.[8] The first single from the album,
«Cooler Than Me,» as of July 3 had climbed the Billboard Hot 100 to
reach No. 6.[9] He performed at Bonnaroo and the 2010 Warped Tour in
the summer.
